This company is engaged in the production, distribution and transmission of electricity. It was incorporated in April of 1986 and conducts business from its registered head office which is strategically located in Vandellos L'Hospitalet de L'Infant, Spain. The company is the main operator of the Vandellos two nuclear power plant, a 500 MWe gas-graphite reactor of the same type as the French St Laurent-des-Eaux plants. Its nuclear power plants annually produce more than 24,000 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, which represents approximately 50 percent of the electrical energy consumed in Catalonia. This annual production also amounts to three times the consumption of the Barcelona county or 80 percent of the electrical energy consumed by the Autonomous Community of Madrid. The nuclear steam supply system was integrated, with the core and the steam generators located inside a pre-stressed concrete pressure vessel. The reactor vessel housed the reactor along with the blowers and auxiliary equipment. The site included also other buildings such as the irradiated fuel building, spent fuel pools building, auxiliary heating plant and the graphite vaults. The company is involved in operating electric power distribution systems (i.e., consisting of lines, poles, meters, and wiring) and in operating as electric power brokers or agents that arrange the sale of electricity via power distribution systems.
